Our Forbidden Ingredient List

Our list includes over 200 chemicals used in beauty and personal care products that pose serious, chronic health concerns including cancer, hormone disruption, and reproductive and developmental harm. Espalier has banned the use of these ingredients from all of our products. 

Our short list of forbidden ingredients in our skincare and bath & body products include:

  • No ingredients of animal origin (except honey and beeswax)
  • No petrochemicals, synthetic substances, mineral oils, or paraffin wax
  • No parabens
  • No phthalates
  • No sulphates 
  • No polyethylene glycol (PEGS)
  • No polysorbates 
  • No silicones
  • No anti-microbial agents produced from non-organic sources
  • No talc or bismuth oxychloride or harmful fillers
  • No fragrances or color components of non-organic or synthetic origin
  • No chelating agents based on EDTA and its salts
  • No nano-particles
  • No micro-beads (environmental concerns) 
  • No palm oil
  • No impure plant oils (ie. hydrogenated cottonseed oil)
  • No harsh chemicals/toxins
